Tutoring began as soon as Shalay got into the car. The lecture was on "directions". Shalay was made aware of the Freeway System, our exact location in Southern California, the cranes at the Port of San Pedro, the cruise ships at Ports O' Call, the Vincent Thomas Bridge and Pacific Coast Highway that travels to San Francisco. You could say she received a guided tour as we made our way to pick up Jarrell, and then Cleasena. Shalay also received a lecture on "amplifiers", particularly electronics amplifiers. Shalay was expected to do Project # 2 in our Radio Shack Construction kit upon our return to Dominguez Hills and it dealt with the "push-pull" electronic amplifier.
Shalay's Push-Pull amplifier works very well! We input music into it from a portable radio and listened. The sound came out loud and clear. We also showed the amplifying power of transistors by placing a digital voltmeter first at a "base" lead and then at a "collector" lead. We watched the alternating current voltage wave vary as the sound varied. We also fed a 400-cycle per second signal from a digital probe into the amplifier and observed the amplifying power of transistors. Shalay is now very knowledgeable about amplifiers. Shalay has spent a great deal of time at computer station # 2. She has been learning to type using the "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" CD-ROM disk.
Yesterday, Shalay constructed a capacitance circuit that worked perfectly. She has acquired a knowledge of tools and test equipment that would put an Electronics Technician to shame!
Wow!
That little girl types better than I do!
And now, let us go to February 26, 2006 for an algebra examination for Shalay!
Shalay, only do the problems that you are familiar with...
1.
Part (B). Polynomials
Multiply:
1. (a - 2)(a + 2) =_______________
2. (3a2 – 3)( 2a2 – 4) =__________
3. (2a2 – a + 5)( 5a2 – 4a – 4) = ______________
a. ( x - 3) ( x + 3)
b. ( 2x ^ 2 + 3x - 3) ( x ^2 - 2x - 4)
c. (x^2 - 9)
d. 32 x 32 x 22 x 42 x 42 divided by 32 x 4 x 2 x 42 = ___________________
Solve the following:
(2.) Y = 3 X + 2 X - 8 X - ( -2 X - 3 X) + 20 Find Y, if X is equal to 3.
( 3.) If: T2 = 81, what is "T"?
( 4.) If: T2 + ( - 100) = 0, what is "T"?
a. -0.33( -0.25c + 4c) - 5.25 ( 0.22d - 12d) = ?
b. 3/4 ( 5/8 b - 3/5 b) - 12= ?
