     Skip to the Future...November 18, 2006

June 24, 2006   Life is pretty good right now. We had great family fun as of late! We swam at the neighborhood pool, ate good food and had a wonderful time at Mr. Mike's home. He celebrated our graduation from Middle School with 2 super-get-together parties. He had all kinds of food and sodas. We played music and had a lot of fun: We being Ashley (graduate), Brianna (graduate), Deryon (graduate), and yours truly. Others present were Vivian, Daniel, Omatseyin, Micah, and Lamar (new), Ne-Ne, Patricia (Volunteer Tutor and her husband, Woodie) Momma Gayle, and Mrs. Marie. It is time to get back on my exercise routine after eating all of the good food!

Kahmya (15) of CAMS Academy of Cal State Dominguez is taking a College Tour for a week, while Brianna is leaving for Summer Camp on Sunday. All of these things needed celebrating, and Mr. Mike is always looking for a reason to celebrate with us. It might be a birthday or the making of an "A" grade: he loves to celebrate these occasions with us. He might cook a cake or two, or have us do it, or he might barbecue; he always has a lot of good food and he must spend an awfully lot of money on us!

Yesterday, he took us to the Lakewood Mall where we went to a movie. (Deryon, Vivain, Lamar, Micah and me.) He dropped us off and came by later to pick us up at 10:00 PM. Then he took most of us home! No wonder he falls asleep so fast when he finally relaxes on his couch.

Mr. Mike picked up Micah (16) and Deryon (14) and brought them over Saturday morning. He was about training them in carpentry. They went to the Home Depot in Carson and bought lumber to build a deck for a backyard swimming pool. The pool was of 8 feet in diameter and the backyard cement was pitched at an angle, so a leveling deck had to be constructed.

Mr. Mike taught the boys how to use the circular saw, the coping saw, the hammer and leveler. They cut each piece of wood, nailed each nail and leveled the whole deck to perfection.....all while Mr. Mike sat and issued instructions! The boys were very elated when the pool was filled with water and Ne-Ne and Mr. Mike sat in it and relaxed. The water level had a "0" slope. Remember that old.... Y= MX + B   from Algebra One!  "M" is the "Slope" if you haven't forgot already! Or do I have to use "Bribery Again"?  Lesson Review F-21
