Natasha at work! These students of Carson were assisted with homework on "place values". They were taken a step further with a brief lesson on our numbering system, which is based on the powers of ten. They were reviewed on percentages and division problems. The times table were of great significance.
A Brief Update of our activities over these last two months. We have been settling in; interviewing the parents of new students, and picking up students from Carnegie Middle School, Curtiss Middle School, and King Drew Magnet School. We have picked up several students from their homes in Carson and taken them home upon occasion. We have also provided food upon occasion. We have been intense in our efforts to assist with homework, and have given motivational lectures on the need to improve grade point averages. We have also had the interaction of Professionals, who lectured the students....Karen B, Attorney, and Julie P, Restaurant owner. We have the younger students attend on Monday and Wednesday, while the older students attend on Tuesday and Thursday. We will be open on Saturdays in the near future. We are open from 2:00 PM until approximately 7:00, Monday through Thursday.

Total students......25!. Our numbers have swelled due to word of mouth! We must halt registration when the number hits 30.....Hurry and sign up, as we will establish a waiting list.
Danielle (17) attends Carson High. I have been assisting with her Algebra Two homework, and she has steadily improved.
The younger generation is "up to snuff" at their respective middle schools. Review of fractions, decimals, place values, division and multiplication, exponents, ...and a bit of the Spanish Language. We have a long ways to go to teach the youngsters all about computers in anticipation of our Internet and CD educational disks.
Purchases: High powered microscope, models, visible human body model, electric motor, crystal radio, and middle and high school Middle School Advantage and High School Advantage CD-ROMS
We are extremely busy, as we all work for free....for more than 10 hours per day!
Carol and Shenette called from San Francisco on September 29 to let me know their cruise ship will be back in San Pedro on Sunday, September 30. Then they will be off to the Mexican Riviera for approximately one year.
