Hello! I'm Tyneesha, (12). Watch me go from "F" to "A". I joined the Tutoring Service last week, and I can see a difference already.

I can go into the Internet and print out my very own "wrestling photos" of my favorites. I can also use Microsoft Office to add a bit of text! Last afternoon, I finally learned fractions! My Tutor, Mr. Mike, along with Omatseyin (13) and Daniel (12), really explained them to me; I can now do all of the operations concerned with addition, multiplication and division of fractions. Mr. Mike sat me down at a Laptop computer and inserted a CD disk by Isaac Asimov. It dealt with Interplanetary Space. I kind of enjoyed it!

Omatseyin moved from an "F" to a "B" in mathematics last month! He says he will become a straight "A" student. He is kind of smart, already! See more below!

Here you see me learning how to write my name in binary, and how to deal with the powers of "2". It is very easy! Computers are only concerned with a "1" and a "0". So my name is made up of "1" and "0". Send me an e-mail and I will send you your name in binary! The multiplication table is for me! Mr. Mike has written the powers of "2" on the dry erase board. I understand what he is saying!!! He made my History homework a lot of fun!  Tell Oprah about us! (Click !)

I forget this table once in a while. Mr. Mike says, "no problem"; Says he forgets sometimes, too. I attend Curtiss Middle School, and Mr. Mike picks me up and brings me over to tutoring, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoon after church. At first, I didn't like the tutoring place. Too many strangers! And now, I can't hardly wait to get over there! I called for him to pick me up on Monday. "No tutoring today", he said. I was really unhappy about that! Anyway, I will be making all "A" grades, now. I told him so when he asked me. I got an "A" on an assignment the other day. "You are on your way" Mr. Mike said. He questions and lectures me when we are in the van, and I don't mind a bit. He talks about my beloved "wrestling" most of the time! He will be taking the students to a World Federation Wrestling Match on May 13th. Then, it's on the WNBA LA  Sparks game on June 7th. Wow! How awesome! Omatseyin will not be going: that is, unless he erases each and every one of his "U" marks in conduct and replaces each with an "E". My Mike is very serious about that. I think I'd better tell Omatseyin what he has just said!

Today is April 5th.....3:00PM. Mr. Mike speaks again!

I picked up Tyneesha from Curtiss Middle School. She told me of her school day. It was encouraging to hear her say that her teachers were commenting on her improvement in their classes. She received a "check" mark, which indicated that she had achieved an "A" in her math. She said her homework consisted of problems such as 6ab, where you had to insert a=3, b=5; She said the problems were too easy, as he gave the answer as 90! What "F" student are we talking about! Certainly not this one. I took Tyneesha to get a bite to eat at the nearby McDonalds. Then it was on to buy gas at Alondra and Central. She showed me her residence, and it sat across the street from one of my very dearest friends, Mabel, who is a bit ill. I parked the van to speak to Mabel, and told her of my new "super student" who was her neighbor! Back to Dominguez Hills, we flew to do homework and to surf the Internet for wrestler's "RAW and SMACKDOWN"! More pictures were printed out, this time in PrintShop, a very good program. I showed her a few things about PrintShop, and she did a letterhead that was "out of sight!" Tyneesha glared at me when I said she did not enjoy coming to tutoring! It was a joke!

Brianna(13) joined us. I reviewed her mathematics for an exam on next week. It dealt with the "reduction and expansion" of boxes on a coordinate plane. I made it extremely simple for her, substituting the large quantities for quantities such as a "2" and a "4". Percents were reduced to rubble, and I suspect Brianna will finish the simple examination a Valley Christian School before the teacher gives her the examination!

The "Bonding of Brianna and Tyneesha" occurred when I sent them to the store for a soda. I treated each to a bag of chips and a soda. They came back the best of friends, with both wanting to attend the wrestling match of May 13th. These were the only 2 students in attendance on this "extension day" for those who desired extra tutoring. On Thursday, it will be business as usual.....with more than 15 in attendance. I can appreciate the rest and recuperation....being only interrupted by the parent to Tyneesha, when she came to pick her up.  We held a lengthy conversation concerning what needed to be done in Tyneesha's educational regards. I wanted to tell her mother that everything was under control; her daughter is moving to an all "A" student so fast, that I have to run to keep up with her. I told her of the SparkNotes Mathematics Pamphlet ( click! ) in her backpack that dealt with fractions, percents, LCM and LCF, and exponents, and circles, and perimeters, and volumes, and units, and all that a 7 and 8 grader needed to work the high level Physics and Calculus. We are marching through this SparksNote document, just as we are marching through the examination found at  this lesson (click) Tyneesha knows all about the first 6 problems. She worked problem after problem on each and every aspect of fractions!
