Skip to the Future....April 14, 2007...Tyneesha at the LA Science Center on Video! Another Video

Tyneesha is a failing student....but not for very long...as help is already on the way!
Tyneesha seems fascinated by the Binary Code! Computers use this code...of "0" and "1" to do all of our work! We could do the same thing, but not at the speed of Light...which is 186,000 miles per second! We discussed the binary numbers and decimal equivalents....including the alphabet...resulting in Tyneesha's writing of her name....using zeroes and ones! Isn't mathematics fascinating! This young lady has a computer mind...as evidenced by her rapid absorption of mechanical principles.....putting models together that the best of students....shyed away from! Go on to Next pages...for a better look at this....now F, student....soon to become an all A student! God has deemed that it be so...and so...it is already done! Cleophas Mike McAlpin....working in the Vineyard...as God has told me to do!
It was raining very hard! I picked up Tyneesha from Curtiss Middle School in Carson, Shalay from Dodson Middle School in Rancho Palos Verdes, and Jasmine from King Drew Magnet School in South Los Angeles...and brought them to Dominguez Hills. Not all agree with what we are doing! God help them!
As soon as Tyneesha entered the van, she was instructed to give an outline of all subjects taken and their content on this day. She did a wonderful job of telling me about her history, P.E. and how she had made an "A" on her "notes". We discussed "wrestling", her interest, as we made our way to San Pedro to pick up Shalay. Shalay told of her classes: Tyneesha absorbed all! Jasmine did the same when we picked her up. Again, Tyneesha and Shalay listened! This is what I call...."the Interaction of Education!"
The students poured in and the rain poured down! They immediately went to work on their homework. Those without homework (Daniel and Omatseyin are out of school due to the Track System....so they came to the board and worked the problems found on our website at Lesson Review 16.) Aaron was handed a book on Basic Electricity and told to review it. Steven and I had a conference. Vivian and I talked about grades. Jordan and I talked about performance in school. Kahmaya and I discussed her Volunteer Tutor status. She did her own homework and could not serve tonight. Omatseyin and Daniel were on their own to explain fractions to Tyneesha...to which she confessed..."I don't know anything about fractions!"
Time out! Time out to teach Tyneesha all there is to know about fractions! We spent approximately 45 minutes teaching her fractions. She is now an expert! I can attest to that, as I gave lectures and problems to solidify her complete understanding of least common denominator and the multiplication tables before her. (below) She is a little weak on the "times" tables, as most 12- year olds are! She was given a "Times Tables" chart, and she "did her thing" with fractions! She said she had tutoring before at a cost of ( a whole lot of money)....he did a terrible job! We work for free...completely dedicated to our students...and not the dollar bill!
Omatseyin and Daniel worked problem after problem that appeared on our overhead projector. Thank you Charles McAlpine for the overhead projector. It made us look like real "pros"! Breaks occur every hour; the students took a well deserved one. I gave most of them $1 to go to the neighborhood store and purchase goodies. Of course, I fed most of them as they came to tutoring: how else would they eat? I enjoy having them eat up "everything" in sight! It's a very small price to pay....as they all make their way.....to straight "A" students!
