Field Trip to Universal City Walk....2:00PM until 8:00PM
Before we ventured to City Walk, we:
Visited Frank at "3-Day Suit Brokers" on 190th and Normandie. Frank greeted each of the students and I invited him to my residence for Super bowl Sunday. Frank said he had already made plans. I told him I was sorry that he could not visit my humble abode, which was in no way equivalent to his 5000+ square foot one! Frank said it was all about "love in the home, and not the size of the home". Frank also said he would pay for the ink cartridges that I was about to purchase in the next block: cost $60. God places so many caring people into the path of "A Free Tutoring Service".
Jasmine, Kamia, Kalen, Chelsea and I went to pick up Shalay at 90th and San Pedro in L.A. We then went down on Avalon and 47th to visit with our Spanish speaking Volunteer Tutor, Charles McAlpine. I invited Charles to come over and give Spanish instructions to Chelsea, who was taking Spanish at King Drew Magnet School, but he said the tax business was beginning to pick up and he needed to be in his office. Nevertheless, he spent a little time talking to Chelsea in the Spanish Language. Chelsea must have been impressed when he told her that his business was thriving because he knew the Spanish Language.
We arrived at City Walk and the students proceeded to search for an adequate eating place. They ate and had a good time doing it. I also allowed them to take digital video camera shots with our Panasonic Camera and they clowned making movies of themselves dancing, etc.
We then went to the movies to see "Big Mamma's House". The movie was full of laughter and the students had a good time watching it. I believe all of the students enjoyed the eating, the shopping and the movie going experience at Universal City Walk.
I dropped Chelsea and Kalem off. I dropped Shalay off. Jasmine and Kamai were picked up by their parent.
Trip Cost: Gasoline; parking; food; approximately $60. Preparation and time spent: 11 hours!
