April 7, 2006    A Free Tutoring Service: Preparing for the Future. Tell Oprah about us!  Please read all 14 of the editorials I have written, and all 30 pages to the Oprah Show Producers. They relieve the stress of many years of struggling to assist students with their classes!  See Photos below and witness the Power of God at work in the life of Tyneesha Martin!  After 11 months of intense tutoring, all failing grades (4) have been removed!

  Frustration sets in! How could it not? After so many years of trying, I can't seem to do the right things or say the right things, to cause some schoolteachers to interact with the parents and me! The percentage of the "Uncaring Teacher"  is no more than 0.10, but that percentage must be addressed!

I have a most disturbing trend to make you aware of. I went to this Middle School with paperwork in hand, dressed to a "T" and left a packet of information for all of the teachers to see. I always go the Middle and High Schools with that same Packet! The Packet of Information is humbling in itself for me: I have to practically beg  some teachers (to one of my students) to call me, write me, send me an e-mail or come to see me in person, or have me to come and talk to them....if they find that my student is not doing what is required to get a passing grade in the class. I only ask for the absolute minimum of "meeting time"! I ask for no more than one visit per month! I ask to give me input as what course outline will be followed. I promise to teach what they teach, only going beyond what is taught on rare occasions.  Perhaps, a B.A. or B.S. or Master's Degree has gotten in the way of common sense! If so, read what the Doctorates, Medical Doctors, CEO's, Attorneys, Other School Teachers, Principals, Electrical and Civil Engineers, have to say about your decision to shut out the Executive Director of "A Free Tutoring Service: Preparing for the Future", a person who has worked and is still working for free to elevate the grade point averages of all students...for over 7 years and counting! They are now watching you, as they serve as: The Professional Community Speaks! (Click!)

Am I wrong, or am I alone with my thoughts? The answer is "no". Several parents have expressed their disgust with the School System as of late! They are very upset that some teachers take special pride in "flunking a student". God, If I were a schoolteacher, I would spend some of my "off time" to take care of the business of education! I would dedicate a portion of my time away from school to speak with a parent of a failing student. I would say "Are you aware that your child has an "F" in my class? May I suggest what you can do about it?" I would not be concerned about the all powerful paycheck! I would be just as dedicated as a medical Doctor, who can put monetary gain aside for a while...to save a life! Oh, you small percentage of uncaring teachers, please save the educational lives of our children. Not only will you feel better about your job, God will bless you beyond anything that you could ever imagine! He will bless you beyond any monetary compensation that you could ever imagine. Do whatever you can to prevent failure in schools. Drop the "pride thing"; Drop the "holier than thou attitude"; Drop the "who does he think he is attitude"; Drop the "protocol thing" (that more than anything else, is the reason for failure in schools.)

There are a small percentage of  teachers that will not call me, or send and e-mail or want anything to do with me.....or a parent! Why? That is the question! Those high, high above you think you'd better start changing protocol! Thank God for the teachers in a High School in Whittier. They called me and they called me. They were so ecstatic to have the likes of me assisting them! A Columbia University Professor of Geology sent me an e-mail of praise for our website and all that is transpiring in the educational lives of the underprivileged! What about those teachers who really don't give a rip if a student passes or fails?

A particular Teacher says to "go on the Internet", and there you will see the missing assignments, the points given and taken away, the subject matter, etc, etc. I ask the question: What if there are no computers available to go onto the Internet? Even if there were, would it be better to discuss such an important subject via the telephone or in person? Why must we allow the computers to do the talking when all we have to do is understand that our children are failing and you are simply saying.....go the Internet?

The parent to one of my students, the one that I am talking about...does not own a computer. That is the problem with teachers who know nothing about the plight of some Minorities: perhaps, they should take another course in Sociology, instead of the ones they teach, so that will understand that some do not have the facility to purchase even the lowest computer on the chain of the sophisticated 300MB, 3.0+ Gigahertz speed of computers of a School System that has meg-bucks to spend each and every season....upgrading and pitching into the trash bin, those that fall short of today's modern technology. I know my Organization is suffering with Spyware Enemies, Viruses; Keylogger, and AboutBlank, and all of the other nasty viruses and Spyware known to mankind. Of course, when you have mega-students clamoring for a few minutes on the Internet to do their homework at this location, and your computer is frozen, that is frustration enough; It is more frustrating when a teacher tells me...and a parent  to go to the Internet and there you will see the grades given, the homework missing, the students that might be failing......but please don't bother to call or come to see me. I am too busy to be bothered with the likes of you! You asked for a Teacher Conference, and I gave you one: On a Monday. Sorry, I had to cancel that one! I did look at the weteachfree.com website, but I will not say anything to you about it: Why? Heck, I don't know myself! See you when I see you! I am not, I repeat, sending an e-mail to anyone, or calling anyone as your Packet suggests: Even when you sneak into my classroom at the end of my class to get a "shot at me" I do not have time to talk to you and tell you anything! Neither am I going to call a parent and let them know that little Susie is flunking my class. Protocol says she is supposed to bring all of the school's correspondence home to you! Ha! Ha! Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Yes, I am failing her, and guess what, I am working for the School System, and not for you!

May I correct you, teacher. You are working for John Q. Public, and the parent is that figure! You are responsible to call a parent when a student is failing....and perhaps that parent will call me. I will then do my best to assist with the homework you give. Students are "sly little people", able to fail without a clue until it is too late to do anything about it. You give her paperwork to bring home to "mommie". The paperwork has her report card on it. It says she is failing miserably. I ask the question: What makes you think little Susie will bring that awful piece of information home to "mommie"? Little Susie would be best suited to toss it into the nearest trash bin. In no way, would she happily face the punishing strokes of a "cussing out or a "whipping" were she to gladly give it to "mommie" or "daddie"! And the mail: Oh yeh, little Susie knows the mail system, too. She knows to look for the telling letter that outlines her failure in school, and so she will probably destroy it! Anything to keep the " cussing out or whipping" off of the back!

We depend on the School System to let us know: unless there is some other underlying cause as to why they do not. I ask, as always, does it have Racial undertones or overtones? As a Tutor who does not get paid, are they angry at that; out to seek and destroy the likes of me! Would they like me to be embarrassed when little Susie fails? Teachers: When we admit a failing student, the first thing we do is establish an "educational bond" with them. This is usually accomplished by finding out one of their interest and work "educationally" with them on it. Such is the case of a recent student, whose love of wrestling has lead her to do Microsoft Word documents, work with PrintShop with a high level of intensity, print out photos and stand back to admire her work. She had also been to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's Chemistry Laboratory, where she has watched the Chemist test samples of water and oil. She has been to the Los Angeles Science Center and worked with other students on projects there. She has seen an IMAX show; she has already developed an intensity to learn and to excel: And it has only been one week since she entered our door! Please do not frown on the Project that she might turn in to you! It is simply an introduction to what she will be accomplishing while in our midst. Assist us in elevating her grade point average. Keep your extra credit grades, and it will not matter to her or us! It's just to let you know she is on her way to the top!  Below: after approximately 11months, each and every failing grades has been removed from Tyneesha's Report Card!

Guess what? I deflect negativism like water from a duck's back! God orders each and every one of my steps...and it is as I have said countless times....this Organization will go on and on. Let God deal with the uncaring and insensitive teacher who knows nothing about Society and all of its problems and ills. Let God deal with those teachers who try and shut me out of the educational process. They will not  be able to do that! And that is what God has told me. Please God, allow those teachers of the "uncaring kind" to be shipped to the "Ghetto Inner City Schools", where parents are adamant enough to come and "rake those kinds of teachers over the coals" for not understanding that there are "Levels of Economics"; some of which will not allow for a decent home, let alone that elusive and expensive computer!

I will bring the failing student to the level of an "A" student, in spite of the deck that has been laid out before me! God said it...and it is already done! There is no power on earth that can make me believe or act otherwise. And now.... my intensity level will increase again.....!
